2025 was a year

A lot went on this year, and I don't just mean politically. I had a little health scare (no big deal) but still did a full wedding season with 10+ weddings, mostly my own but a few as a second shooter; my daughter's wedding was in there as well! As always, each wedding was amazing. Each wedding was my favourite (although you know I had one or two faves, but I won't tell.)

You know I was a bit shaky on those first few because there were no lightsabers, but the photos turned out pretty good!

I want to mention one client in particular - Annie and Sam, whose wedding was two weeks after my operation. I was very bummed to miss it (they weren't just clients but also friends) but they so graciously accepted Fran and Nathalie as their wedding shooters. It was the only wedding I missed. For most of the others (starting 6 weeks after my operation), I was able to go as a second shooter to Fran.

A huge thank you to (in no particular order)

My sister Francyne Dufault who moved mountains to make sure my weddings were covered despite a 5.5 hour drive each way for each wedding.

My friend Nathalie Vaillant who also moved mountains to help me with my weddings.

My daughter Cathy Dufault who was my ride for multiple weddings when I was not yet allowed to drive, and who also started shooting weddings too. Lots more to come!

My clients and friends! While I was waiting for the operation, I had a few short weeks to reach out to all of my clients with options, ranging from

  • cancelling and getting all of their money back, to
  • letting Fran and Nathalie shoot the weddings instead of me, to
  • waiting to see how I would be because they really wanted me to do their wedding (thank you Tegan and Steph!)

I am happy to report that no one cancelled. Except for one couple, they all went for coverage by my sister and/or Nathalie.

As it turns out, I was able to go to all of the weddings as my own second shooter with my sister in the lead, and I think it all worked out. I took on a few extra weddings as the year went on, and since I wasn't allowed to drive for 6 months after the op, my daughter Cathy took on that chore, and became my second shooter.

My mother Fleurette Huneault, who did the 5.5 hour drive to and from my sister's so I could go and cover one of her weddings in September. My mom drives really fast.

Last but def not least. My amazing wife Joanne Walsh, who somehow managed to deal with my pitiful self at the same time as other family stuff going on. My rock. Thank you.
